What is Time of Use (TOU)?
The new tariff system measures the cost of electricity used based on the time of day at which the electricity is consumed.
What are the different times for Time of Use meters?
07h00 – 12h00 PEAK
12h00 – 17h00 STANDARD
17h00 - 20h00 PEAK
20h00 – 21h00 STANDARD
21h00 – 05h00 OFF PEAK
05h00 – 07h00 STANDARD
Why are my readings so high?
This could be as a result of any of the following reasons:
- High usage
- Stealing of water
- Underground leakage
- Wrong reading submitted
- Human error
- Faulty meters
Why is my meters estimated?
This could be as a result of any of the following reasons:
- Unforeseen circumstances – system breakdowns.
- Illness of staff, promotion of staff
- Unfriendly weather
- Inaccessibility during festive season
I am a self-reader but why are my readings not processed even when I have submitted them?
- Circumstances above our control (fax and e-mail breakdowns)
- Incorrect account numbers, readings and reading dates
- Spot-check readings already submitted by Meter Readers
