A major road improvement project is underway, where the Eneas Peter Nanyemba road, formerly known as the Monte Christo road, is being transformed into a dual carriageway. The project, which costs about N$381 million, covers a distance of 6.1 kilometers from the B1 highway’s western off-lamp to the Matshitshi street Intersection in Havana.

 

The aim of the project is to improve the accessibility of Ongos Valley Development, a new residential and commercial area, and to reduce traffic congestion on the road. The project is financed by Ongos Valley Development, with the support of the Road Fund Administration (RFA).

 

The upgraded road will feature traffic lights, street lights, pavements, and a planned bus lane for public transport.The City of Windhoek has facilitated the relocation of residents who were living along the road reserve to a new plot on farm 508 north of Havana. The City will also build a new open market for traders who used to operate on the road reserve once the project is completed.
