Born in Windhoek in October 1991, Honourable Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma is the grandson of the Founding President and Father of the Namibian Nation, H.E. Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma. The young Nujoma joined the Municipal Council of Windhoek, in December 2020, representing the national governing party, SWAPO.
As of February 2023, Nujoma was elected as the Chairman of the Management Committee of the Windhoek Council, the second-highest decision-making body of the Municipal Council. He is the Chairperson of the Council Advisory Committee on Financial Sustainability, Performance Management, and Policy.
Honourable Nujoma is a member of the Association of Local Authorities of Namibia (ALAN) an umbrella body of local authorities in Namibia, and chairperson of its Finance Committee. In addition to other Board memberships in the corporate and public sectors, Nujoma is a member of the Council of the Namibian University of Science and Technology (NUST).
His political career kicked off when he joined his party’s pioneer movement and subsequently became a Section Chairman at the grassroots structure of the SWAPO Party Youth League in 2010. He is a member of the SWAPO Party Youth League’s Central Committee, the highest decision-making body of the youth wing of the ruling party, and Secretary of its Khomas Region. Nujoma is also a member of the SWAPO Party Khomas Regional Executive Committee the highest decision-making body on regional political matters.
A youthful political leader whose passion is driven by youth empowerment and economic development, Nujoma has actively been involved in projects that seek the implementation of Smart City initiatives, innovations, and financial sustainability best practices.
