Requirements for Service

  2. 2. Visa/Working Permit valid for more than three (3) months from the day of registration (for Non-Namibians)‎
  3. 3. Proof of ownership of the premises/Lease Agreement/Sublease Agreement/Letter of consent from Owner, where applicable ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
  4. 4. Proof of Registration as a Legal Entity (e.g. proof of registration with BIPA or proof with any registration body)
  5. 5. In case of the Manager/Representative, provide ID/valid passport and a representation letter as per resolution)
  6. 6. Latest paid-up Municipal Bill (Application will NOT be processed if the Municipal Bill is in arrears) ‎
  7. 7. Consent Letter (for businesses operating in a residentially zoned area) ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎
  8. 8. Town Planning Certificate (for businesses operating on any other zoned area other than residential)

    1. 1. Clients can apply for a fitness certificate by downloading the application form (available on the website)
    2. 2. Submit your completed application form together with the required documents at the Urban Planning Division at Customer Care Centre, City of Windhoek Head office.
    3. 3. Or apply online via the “E-Portal”

 

 

 

Instructions

All business entities operating within the Municipal boundaries are obligated to apply for and annually renew their Fitness Certificate as stipulated by Regulation 6 of the Regulations Relating to the Registration of Businesses, GN 202 of 2006 promulgated under the Local Authorities Act, Act No 23 of 1992.

 

The certificate is only issued to business premises which comply with the applicable regulations and by-laws of the various stakeholders within the Local Authority. This is a confirmation that the premises meets all necessary requirements to operate the business from that specific premises. Should your business cease to operate, you are obligated to deregister your business as Regulation 12 of this Regulation.

 

The business owner should inform the Business Registration Officer within 1 month from the date of ceasing to conduct such business, of such cessation by completing a deregistration form, settling any outstanding renewal fees and must submit the certificate of fitness to the Business Registration Officer for cancellation.
