Training
Vacant posts in the Windhoek City Police Service are advertised in local media. Interested candidates may also contact the City Police Human Resource directly to enquire as to whether vacancies exist within the departments and when the relevant posts will be advertised.
Minimum Requirements
- Applicants must be a Namibian citizen
- Must not be under the age of 18
- Must not be convicted of a criminal offence
- Must be in possession of a B or BE license. (Professional Authorization (PA) Driving License will be added advantage)
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 with a minimum of 25 points
- Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice/Policing
- Bachelor Degree in Adult Education and Community Development
- Basic Traffic Diploma or Basic Police Diploma (will be an added advantage)
Required Examinations
- Aptitude tests
- Medical examination
- Fingerprints to be taken
- Physical health test
- Mental tests (as the Council may determine)

Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintenance of law and order
- Enforcement of Municipal By-laws and Criminal Procedure Act
- Partaking in zonal Patrol
- Liaison with other law enforcement agencies.
- Assist in a joint operation
- Enforcement of Road Traffic and Transportation Act
- Perform Traffic Control functions
- Assist in Road safety and public awareness
- Complete accident/crash report
