The City of Windhoek has launched the Affordable Housing Programme to cater for the needs of low to middle-income residents who earn between N$3,500 and N$ 25,000 per month. The programme offers different types of houses with prices ranging from N$ 300 000 to N$650 000, excluding the land cost.
The programme requires the applicants to obtain bank approval before they can participate. As a pilot phase, the Council has delivered eight houses in Khomasdal under this programme. The eight houses are located on Erf 6019-6026, Corner of Florence Nightingale/Sigma Street in Khomasdal.
The Council has also invited applications for 77 housing units that will be built in Goreangab Extension 4 under this programme. The Council plans to expand the programme to other areas such as Cimbebasia, Otjomuise and Rocky Crest in 2024, where it aims to build at least 200 houses.
