Requirements for Service
- 1. Certified copy of applicant’s ID/passport
- 1. Certified copy of applicant’s ID/passport
- 2. Certified copy of food cart license disc
- 3. Certificate of registration of the food cart from NATIS
- 4. Police clearance certificate
- 5. A letter from a medical doctor indicating applicants’ health status with respect to the handling of food
- 6. A letter of inspection from the department of City Police: Emergency Service Division
- 7. A letter of inspection from the department of City Police: Emergency Service Division
- 8. Valid lease agreement signed with the Council (Council owned properties)
- 9. Valid fitness certificate issued by the Council
- 10. The general appearance and cleanliness of the food cart, both interior and exterior, should be good
- 11. A serviced fire extinguisher & a valid certificate from the Emergency Services Division

- 1. Applicants to identify suitable sites and submit to Economic Development Division for evaluation and approval.

Additional Information
• No new food cart stands will be allowed in the central business district (CBD)
• No food cart stands will be allowed in the vicinity of government institutions, schools and institutions of higher learning, e.g. UNAM, NUST and IUM. Provisions for cafeterias have been made at those institutions.
• Food carts are not endorsed in front or next to formal shopping centers where similar products are provided for by existing formal businesses.
• Food cart stands are not sanctioned within 15 meters of any intersection which might lead to hindrance of traffic flow
• No food cart stands will be endorsed along major roads unless safe parking is available.
• A distance of 100 metre needs to be kept between food cart stands for sustainability of food cart outlets.
